Shane Timmons Named Second Team All-Mountain West

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State University baseball player Shane Timmons was selected Second Team All-Mountain West at first base for the 2017 season.  The conference office made the announcement on Thursday.


Timmons, from Mission Viejo, Calif., led the Spartans in multiple batting categories in conference play with a .352 average, 23 runs, 38 hits, seven doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 30 runs batted in and a .440 on-base percentage among others.

The five-foot-eleven, 230 pound junior finished in the top-10 in several conference categories including: ninth in slugging percentage (.648), tied for seventh in triples (two), fifth in home runs (seven), tied for sixth in hit by pitches (six), first in sacrifice flies (five) and tied for eighth in stolen bases (five).  

The award is the first for the Capistrano Valley High School (Mission Viejo, Calif.) product's career and marks the fourth consecutive season San José State has had an All-Mountain West Second Team performer.  Kalei Contrades was honored in 2014, followed by Ozzy Braff in 2015 and Dillan Smith last season.
