SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Spartans remain on the road taking on the Saint Mary’s Gaels in Moraga, Calif. for a Tuesday mid-week game after playing a weekend series at Nevada last week. SJSU picked up a road win in the series opener against Nevada but dropped the next two games.
Tuesday’s game is the frontend of a home-and-home series with the Gaels with the first pitch at 3:00 p.m. PT. San José State and Saint Mary’s will play again next week, on April 25, at Municipal Stadium.
San José State leads the all-time series 100-49. In 2016, the Spartans defeated the Gaels 4-1 in their only meeting. The one run allowed by the Spartans were the fewest allowed last season. Five pitchers, including four from this season’s squad (Matt Brown, Zach Wallace, Logan Handzlik, Zach Tanner and Graham Gomez) combined to hold the Gaels to one run. It was SJSU’s first win over Saint Mary’s since the 2014 campaign.

“Omaha Knows” is the SJSU baseball program motto. What matters is what you do when nobody is watching. But Omaha, Nebraska, home of the College World Series, is always watching. Omaha knows how you went about your business. Spartan fans will see the hashtag #OmahaKnows attached to social media posts throughout the baseball season.
