RENO, Nev. -- A month after taking the series opener from Nevada with Josh Nashed on the mound, San José State's baseball team was shut out in Friday night's opener at Peccole Park, 12-0.

Nevada (32-10, 17-5 MW) looked every bit of the top team in the conference, collecting 18 hits while holding San José State (10-32, 3-16 MW) to five.

Nashed (3-4), looking for his second win of the season against the Wolf Pack, was touched for eight runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings while walking two and striking out three. Myles Richard, Ross Slaney and Dylan Sugimoto finished the game out of the San José State bullpen.

Trenton Brooks (3-1) picked up the win for Nevada in his third start of the season, working the first 5.0 innings and scattering three hits while walking two and fanning two. In the sixth, Brooks gave way to Evan McMahan, who went on to record a 4.0-inning save.

Andre Mercurio (2-3, hit by pitch) reached base three times in his return from a three-game absence, while Ozzy Braff (1-2) picked up a hit in his first game back from a four-game absence of his own. Dillan Smith (1-3, walk) and Joe Stefanki (1-2) added hits.

After trading scoreless frames through three innings, Nevada broke through with three runs in the fourth inning on four hits. The Wolf Pack sent 11 men to the plate in the next inning en route to six runs on seven hits, highlighted by four consecutive singles. Nevada would go on to add three more in the eighth to reach the 12-0 final.
