San Jose State University's athletic training staff is responsible for the care of student-athletes once they arrive on campus, working to prevent and care for athletic injuries and enhance their physical well-being. In the event that a student athlete does sustain an injury, the student-athlete is treated by an outstanding team of experienced certified athletic trainers and health care professionals.
The athletics health care team is coordinated by Scott Shaw, the Director of Sports Medicine and consists of five full-time certified athletic trainers and six certified graduate assistant athletic trainers. The Sports Medicine team is fortunate to have two general physicians and one orthopedic surgeon who volunteer their time in order to better care for our athletes. In addition, we have a dedicated staff of specialists who volunteer their time including our team chiropractor, acupuncturist, and physical therapists.
Student-athletes receive care and treatment at any one of the three convenient athletic training facilities on the San Jose State University campus.
