Mike Bazemore brings over 25 years of work experience in collegiate athletics to the San José State Athletics Department as the Assistant Athletics Director for Business, Facilities and Events.

 

Bazemore joins the Spartans after spending the past eight years as the Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations at UC Davis. He oversaw the department’s operating budget while providing leadership and financial management expertise to head coaches and department heads. As part of the senior management team, he also supervised the water polo, swimming and diving and lacrosse programs.

 

Prior to becoming an Aggie, Bazemore was the Fiscal Coordinator for the University of Nevada from 2006-2009. There he also oversaw sports budgets and worked on travel claims and courtesy car programs.

 

He spent five years (2001-06) as the Assistant Athletics Director for Business and Finance at the University of Central Florida. There, Bazemore served as the Chief Financial Officer and oversaw a $20+-million department budget. He supervised men’s and women’s soccer and baseball and oversaw the equipment room and ticket office.

 

Bazemore also worked for nine years (1993-2001) at Jacksonville University where he started as the Assistant Athletics Director for Administration and Finance before receiving a promotion to an Associate Athletics Director. He coordinated all athletics department financial transactions. Bazemore was the co-director of the conference men’s and women’s basketball and baseball tournaments. He had direct oversight of selected sports and departments including compliance, marketing and sports medicine.

 

Bazemore earned his bachelor of fine arts degree in radio and television with a minor in business from Sam Houston State in 1982. He then received a master’s in sport administration from St. Thomas University in Florida in 1992. Bazemore served as graduate assistant women’s basketball coach at Blinn College. He also works on various radio and television crews for national broadcasts of the NFL and NCAA football including CBS-TV, Sports USA Radio and Dial Global/Westwood One.
