Blake Sasaki joined the San José State Athletics department as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations in April of 2013.
Sasaki came to San José State from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was the Associate General Manager for the IMG Sports Marketing Department from 2009-13. He was responsible for managing over 30 corporate partners and achieved status as a top-10 performer among all college properties.
Prior to his position at California, Sasaki spent three years as a Senior Account Executive for the San Francisco 49ers. He negotiated corporate partnerships with a focus on increasing sponsorship revenue and developed new relationships with first-time, non-traditional sponsors.
Sasaki was the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing, Promotions, and External Relations at UC Irvine from 1998-2006 where he directed the corporate sponsorships, marketing, promotions and event management programs. He also assisted in athletics development and worked with numerous campus student groups.
After graduating from college, Sasaki began his career at Weber State where he was an assistant director of marketing and promotions. He was responsible for all marketing, promotions, corporate sponsorships and advertising for football, men's and women's basketball, women's soccer and volleyball.
At San José State, Sasaki oversees all of the external relations for the athletics department, which includes marketing & promotions, media relations, and ticket sales --as well as managing the relationships with Learfield Sports Properties, The Aspire Ticketing Group, and Pivot Marketing for facility naming opportunities. During his tenure, Sasaki was able to work on bringing in the largest ever university-corporate partnership agreement with Citizens Equity First Credit Union (CEFCU) to rename Spartan Stadium to CEFCU Stadium, Home of the Spartans. From a development standpoint, he continues to be a major gifts officer for the department to assist in the South Campus Facility Renovations. Sasaki current supervises the sports of Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball and Baseball.
Sasaki earned his Master of Sports Administration degree from Ohio University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science from UC Davis.
Sasaki and his wife, the former Staci Kawakami, reside in Campbell with their two young boys, Cole and Max. Staci is a 1997 graduate of San José State with the Bachelor of Science degree in business accounting.
