Parking and Tailgating Information

General Parking: Game-day public parking is available in the three numbered Lots; the surface lot located on the west side of 7th Street between Humboldt and the Alan B. Simpkins Athletic Administration Building parking lot (Lot 3), the White Lot located at Bud Winter Field on 10th & Alma (Lot 6) and the Humboldt lot located on Humboldt between 7th Street and 10th Street (Lot 5). Game-day parking may be purchased the day of each event at the lot entrances. Gates open five hours prior to kickoff. (*Passes can be ordered by calling the ticket office at 408-924-SJTX). All tailgating must end at kickoff.

Tailgate Parking (Fan Fiesta): Tailgate parking is available in the Fan Fiesta area located on the grass field bordered by Spartan Stadium, 10th Street, Alma and Stadium Way. Spaces are allocated on first-come, first-served basis.The Fan Fiesta area opens five hours prior to kickoff (for example: gates open at Noon for 5:00 p.m. games). Fans are encouraged to arrive early. Once the Fan Fiesta area is full, fans will be directed to Lot 6 on 10th Street. Passes can be ordered by calling the ticket office at 408-924-SJTX (7589). All tailgating must end at kickoff.

Handicapped Parking: Handicapped parking is conveniently located on the surface lot located at 7th Street between Humboldt and the Alan B. Simpkins Athletic Administration Building parking lot. There are a limited number available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning five hours prior to kickoff. A valid state-issued handicap-parking permit is required. Gate open five hours to kickoff. All tailgating must end at kickoff.

RV Parking: A limited amount of RV parking is available in the Fan Fiesta .Gates open five hours to kickoff. (*Passes can be ordered by calling the ticket office at 408-924-SJTX). All tailgating must end at kickoff.

Spartan Foundation Reserved Tailgate: The Spartan Foundation reserved tailgate area is available for purchase by Spartan Foundation members at a donation level of $1,000 and greater. The spaces are 20 feet by 20 feet and accommodate up to two vehicles. Season passes are $175 per space. Please contact the Spartan Foundation at 408-924-1218 for more information. All tailgating must end at kickoff.

Football Practice Field (Reserved for Groups of 20 or more): Located near the corner of 7th Street and Humboldt Street (between the Koret Center and the old Spartan Village), the football practice field will be available for all home games this fall. Each space is 50 feet wide by 50 feet in length and includes two single-game parking passes in the White Lots. There is a $200 non-refundable charge to reserve each spot. Tents, tables, chairs and catering are available through third-party vendors for an additional charge. Vehicles, glass bottles and charcoal BBQ's are prohibited in this area*. (*Please check with Spartan Athletics to receive a complete list of use restrictions noncompliance will result in removal from the football practice field). SJSU Football Game Day Tailgating Policy: San Jose State University is committed to creating a safe, friendly and clean, game-day environment for all fans, students, alumni and members of the San Jose community. The University disapproves of alcohol abuse, intoxication, and any resulting unacceptable conduct.

  • Fans and their guests are permitted to gather and tailgate only in approved parking lots around the football stadium. Fans must adhere to the Football Game Day Alcohol Policy. The following items are not permitted in any parking lot around Spartan Stadium:
    • Glass bottles
    • Mass-consumption devices
    • Kegs
    • Drinking Games
  • Any fan who does not comply with these policies may be escorted off the premises. All mass consumption devices and glass bottles will be confiscated by the proper authorities if see in use.
  • All patrons in any parking lot around Spartan Stadium MUST adhere to the noise ordinance policy. Loud or offensive music will not be tolerated. DJs without proper certification will be asked to leave the premises.
  • Tailgates and tailgating activities shall be refined to an area in front of or behind a parked vehicle. Tailgates and tailgating activity cannot occur in drive lanes or any fire lanes.
  • Tailgates and tailgating activities that compromise existing parking spots will be asked to move to a cleared area (in front or behind a car).
  • All grills must be extinguished (coals or propane) prior to vacating the lots. Failure to do so may result in citation.
  • Fans cannot consume alcoholic beverages prior to the parking lots being open on game days
  • All tailgating, music and drinking must stop at kickoff. At kickoff, all fans must make their way into the stadium or to the bus back to campus. Anyone drinking in the parking lots after kickoff will be subject to citation
