SPARTAN NOTES: In his second season with the Spartans...right-handed reliever who is competing for late innings and the closer role...good athlete and hard thrower...one of three natives of Elk Grove, Calif., and five Sacramento area products on the 2009 roster.
2008: Made 12 appearances, all in relief...posted a 3.15 ERA over 20.0 innings thrown...major college debut was a 2.0-inning scoreless outing against Portland (3/8), with first major college strikeout...longest outing was 3.1 innings at NMSU (3/20), when he allowed no runs on three hits and one walk, with one strikeout...threw 2.2 scoreless frames against Hawai’i (4/4)...struck out two twice, at home against Saint Mary’s (3/18) and Hawai’i-Hilo (4/23)...did not give up an earned run in seven of his 12 stints...played for the Maxim Yankees over the summer, traveling to the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan., in August, where the Yankees went 5-2 and placed seventh.
COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE: Played two years of baseball (Coach Tony Bloomfield) at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Calif., with current teammate Michael Drake...batted .213 with six doubles, two home runs, 17 runs and 11 RBI as a sophomore in 2007, playing in the outfield and pitching...made one appearance on the mound, registering two outs...made three appearances as a freshman in 2006, with one start...went 1-0 with eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work...helped lead CRC to the 2006 Big 7 title with a 33-12 record.
RIO VISTA HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2005 from Rio Vista (Calif.) High School, having played four years of baseball and football, and three years of basketball...also was a two-year member of the track and field team...earned all-league honors in all sports, including league MVP distinction in baseball...was an all-state quarterback on the football team as a senior in 2005, passing for a school single-season record 2,100 yards...hit .365 and posted a 0.91 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched in his senior year of baseball...as a junior in 2004, produced a .400 batting average and 1.30 ERA in baseball, while running 11.0 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.6 seconds in the 200 meters on the track team.
TREVOR: Majoring in health science, with a minor in kinesiology...interested in pursuing a career as a chiropractor...enjoys table tennis and movies...played club baseball for the Rio Vista Rams...has one older sister, Mary Stahura...parents are Monroe Gibson and Tracy Cronin...nicknamed Gibby...Trevor Gibson was born in Riverside, Calif., on September 6, 1986.
