SPARTAN NOTES: In her second season with the Spartans...enrolled in school and participated in training during the 2008 spring semester...voted by teammates as San Jose State's Most Valuable Player and Offensive MVP in 2008...a Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year candidate as a senior striker in 2009...Academic All-WAC honoree in 2008.
2008: Led the Spartans in virtually all statistical categories, including goals (8), points (17), game-winning goals (3), shots (39) and shots on goal (21)...was the lone Spartan to start all 20 matches...notched the game-winning goal in three of San Jose State's five victories, at home versus Sacramento State (9/14) in overtime, at Air Force (9/26) and at Nevada (10/12)...goal against Sacramento State came 3:13 into the first extra session for the team's first win of the season after six matches...scored three equalizers, versus California (8/24), at Hawai'i (10/19) and against Boise State (11/6) in the WAC Tournament...also reached the back of the net against WAC foes Louisiana Tech (10/24) and at Boise State (11/2)...collected her lone assist on the opening goal of a 3-2 home loss against Utah State (10/26)...nine points and four goals in WAC matches tied for the league lead...tied for second on the WAC goal-scoring chart in all matches, and sixth in points...played a season-high 104 minutes at home against Seattle (8/31) and Fresno State (10/10)...all four shots against California (8/24) were on goal...matched that single-game season high with four shots against Miami (Ohio) (9/21) and at Saint Mary's (10/3)...credited with at least one shot taken in each of her final 10 matches.
CABRILLO COLLEGE: Played two years at Cabrillo College (Coach Paolo Carbone) in Aptos, Calif., scoring 56 goals...was chosen the Most Valuable Player of the Coast Conference in 2007 and was the Forward of the Year in her freshman year in 2006...two-time all-conference pick.
APTOS HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years of varsity basketball and participated in varsity track and field for three years at Aptos (Calif.) High School, graduating in 2005...was a two-time first-team all-league selection in basketball, and part of the school-record-setting 4x100 relay as a track athlete.
EMMY: Majoring in advertising...plans to pursue a career in photography...attended Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Calif., during the 2005-06 academic year, prior to Cabrillo College, but did not participate in soccer...played her club soccer for the Santa Cruz Breakers (Coach Ashley Edgar) and the Aptos Surf (Coach Hillel Rom)...enjoys the beach, babysitting, and spending time with her family...has one brother, John...parents are Richard Belding and the late Kathy Belding...father, Richard, was a junior college All-American as a swimmer at Foothill College...Emily Belding was born on December 31, 1986, in Redwood City, Calif.
