AT SAN JOSE STATE:  In his third season at San Jose State...signed with the Spartans during the 2007 spring signing period...a 2007-08 San Jose State University Scholar-Athlete...a 2008 Academic All-WAC honoree...a pair of double-figure scoring games for the Spartans in his major college career.

2008-09: Played in 26 games and made his first major college start against Nevada (2/12)...matched his single-game scoring high of 10 points in the Hawaii win (Jan.17)...single-game best 6 rebounds in 26 minutes at Fresno State (Jan. 10)...handed out 5 assists in the William Jessup triumph (Dec. 28)...team's most accurate free throw shooter with an 88.5 percent mark.

2007-08: Played in 27 games, all in a reserve capacity...one of three Western Athletic Conference players who did not start a game, but played more than 400 minutes in the season...averaged 3.5 points a game for the season...season scoring of 10 points came at Idaho (1/24/08)...got off to a fast start at the beginning of the season averaging 5.8 points and shooting 50 percent from the field, all from 3-point range...missed five December non-conference games due to a practice injury...returned to hand out a season-high four assists in the overtime win at Portland State (12/28)...also dished out four assists in the Fresno State victory (1/17/08)...picked up his scoring in conference action averaging 4.0 per game.

DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE: 
Played one season (Coach Steve Coccimiglio) ...was a first-team all-state selection...one of only two freshmen named a first-team all-state player in California in 2006-07...named his conference’s Most Valuable Player leading his team to a 27-6 win-loss record...ranked 10th in the state for 3-point field goal accuracy with 47.2 percent mark (85 of 180)...averaged 12.8 points per game...was in double-figure scoring 23 times in 33 games...scored 20 or more points five times...third in the state in free throw accuracy at 88.9 percent...handed out 3.4 assists and collected 3.0 rebounds per game.

DEER VALLEY HIGH: 
Lettered in basketball (Coach Eric Bamberger) and track and field at Deer Valley High in Antioch, Calif...a two-time honorable mention All-Metro selection by the San Francisco Chronicle...a two-time first-team all-league high jumper...set a school record with a leap of 6-feet-8 during his sophomore season.

MAC:  Communication studies major...his dad, Robert Birden, was a three-year starting guard on the 1974 through 1976 University of Arkansas teams and a first-team All-Southwest Conference pick as a junior in 1975...Birden’s scoring averages were 7.7, 10.7 and 7.4 points per game for his sophomore through senior seasons, respectively...his uncle, J.J. Birden, played seven seasons in the National Football League as a wide receiver for Kansas City (1990-94) and Atlanta (1995-96)...lists “Godfather I,” “The Wood,” “The Departed” and “Pulp Fiction” among his favorite movies...born in San Francisco, Calif., on April 14, 1988.
