The Spartan Junior Jennifer Williams was able to stay in a tight match against Rocio Frej but fell short in the first two sets, 6-4, 6-3. “Jen was chipping away at her opponent the whole match, and I really liked the way she approached her game today,” said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. After losing the first set 6-1, freshman Kerri Kummer jumped out to a 3-2 lead midway through the second. Kummer went on to lose the match against Bianca Jochimsen, 6-1, 6-4. The remaining Spartan singles: Amber Silverstone, Silvana Dukic, Anna Guzman, and Sanda Hadzisabic also lost in straight sets. Kummer and Silverstone, paired up for the first time in doubles this year, picked up four points in their 8-4 loss to Vivien Silfany and Pachittra Thongdach. Following the match coach Nguyen-Church said, “Today’s loss was against a very high caliber team, and I feel like our girls were still able to play hard and hit the ball well against them.” Singles Results: Pachittra Thongdach (BSU) def.
