Rivalry Continues At Santa Clara

Upcoming matches: Santa Clara University (12-4, 3-2 WCC), Tuesday, April 5, 2011, Santa Clara, Calif. 2:00 p.m.
  
Cal State Bakersfield (2-10), Thursday, April 7, 2011, San Jose, Calif., Spartan Tennis Complex, 1:00 p.m.

Santa Clara record: 12-4, 3-2 WCC. The Broncos will face the Spartans at home where they are 7-1 in 2011. They are coming off of two straight conference losses on the road to Saint Mary's College and San Diego.

Cal State Bakersfield record: 2-10. The roadrunners are on a seven-match losing streak that includes a, 4-3 loss to San Jose State on 3/12.

San Jose State record: 5-8, 0-1 WAC. The Spartans return to the Bay Area after five consecutive matches out of state. The Spartans went 0-3 at the Las Vegas Challenge followed by losses to Montana State and WAC foe Boise State.

A Look Back: San Jose State head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church took her first head coaching job at Santa Clara in the 1989-90 season. One year later the Broncos set a school record with 15 dual-match victories and had their first winning record ever. Nguyen-Church's three-season win-loss coaching record at SCU was 38-35.

Progress Report: Sabastiani Leon Chao, Chau Truong, Sandra Florea and Anna Guzman are all tied for the team-lead with 8 wins in singles. Leon Chao and Florea have been the Spartans' best doubles pairing at 11-4 on the year. The Spartans have seven matches remaining this season, five of which are on the road.

Home site: SJSU will play all of their home dual-matches in 2011 at the Spartan Tennis Complex located at the corner of 12th and Humboldt street in San Jose, Calif.
