Las Cruces, N.M. – San Jose State’s Sabastiani Leon Chao was one of six named to the First Team All-WAC Singles list, in a vote by the eight conference coaches. Leon Chao and Erica Medlin also received Second Team All-WAC Doubles recognition. The 2012 Western Athletic Conference women’s tennis award winners, as selected by the league’s head coaches, were announced tonight, April 26, 2012, at the WAC Tennis Tournament banquet. Leon Chao, the sophomore from San Diego, had 12 dual singles match wins this season, which was tied for the team lead, as 10 of her singles wins came playing from the No. 1 position. The duo of Leon Chao/Medlin teamed up to grab 12 dual doubles match wins in the regular season. They also had a win against New Mexico State in the first round of the WAC Championship Tournament. Both players helped the Spartans to a program record 12 match win streak. During the streak the pair had 11 straight wins in a row. The rest of the All-WAC awards are below.
