More than one-fourth of San Jose State University's
student-athlete population are among thousands nationwide who will be honored
on National Student-Athlete Day, Friday April 6, by the National Consortium for
Academics and Sports.
These
126 Spartans qualified for this award based on earning a 3.00 or higher cumulative
grade-point average and participated in community service events during the
2011-12 academic year.
Now
in its 25th year, the National Consortium for Academics and Sports
manages the awards program. An organizational goal is to promote the positive
virtues of sports and student-athletes as a whole, and the positive affect both
have on society.
