SPARTAN NOTES: In her third season with the Spartans...swims the sprint freestyle events...two-time Academic All-WAC honoree and two-time San Jose State University Scholar-Athlete.

2008-09: Was chosen to serve as a team tri-captain as a sophomore...competed in prelims of the 50 free (2/26) at the 2009 WAC Championship, sprinting a season-best 24.88, as well as the 100 free (season-best 53.90) and 200 free (2:00.84)...part of three relay wins in dual meets.

2007-08: At her first WAC Championship, swam in prelims of the 50 free (25.32), 100 free (55.15) and 200 free (2:01.37), with the first two being her season-best marks...competed in all 13 meets in her first season of college swimming...one of three Spartan Award recipients...anchored the winning 100 free relay during the relay meet at Boise State (10/20)...swam the third leg of the fastest 400 free relay (3:42.36) at home against CSUEB (1/26)...other best times were 2:00.13 in the 200 free and 2:25.26 in the 200 IM...best 50 back split was 31.32.

MISSION VIEJO HIGH SCHOOL: Earned a varsity letter in swimming (Coach Kristine Palle) all four years at Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School...earned high school All-America honors in the 400 free relay and was the MVHS Female Athlete of the Year as a senior...helped Mission Viejo to back-to-back CIF team titles as a junior and senior...dropped over a second in the 100 free from prelims to finals at the South Coast League meet as a sophomore...best times were 25.53 in the 50 free and 55.11 in the 100 free.

ASHLEY: Majoring in kinesiology...interested in a career in physical therapy...enjoys listening to music and going to Disneyland and the beach...competed in club swimming most recently for Irvine Novaquatics (Coach Ken LaMont)...previously swam with Mission Viejo Nadadores for nearly a decade...has one younger brother, Alex...parents are John and Jackie Ladd...Ashley Michele Ladd was born in Anaheim, Calif., on March 17, 1989.
