| Nico Aimonetti | DT | 6-5 | 255 | FR | San Jose, Calif./Los Gatos HS |
A 2012 MaxPreps Division II second-team all-state lineman, Nico is a defensive tackle prospect joining the Spartans in the fall. Aimonetti also was a San Francisco Chronicle second-team All-Metro, a first-team All-Central Coast Section (CCS) and first-team all-league choice for Los Gatos (Calif.) High (Coach Butch Cattolico). As a junior, he was a first-team all-league and honorable mention All-CCS choice. Aimonetti concluded his high school football career playing in the 2013 Literacy Classic All-Star Game in San Jose. The two-sport letterwinner competed in the shot put and discus for the track and field team.
Nico will be a second-generation San Jose State football player. His dad, John Aimonetti, was a 1986 U.P.I. second-team All-West Coast offensive tackle as a senior for the Spartans. His uncle, Steve Aimonetti, was an offensive lineman at Stanford in the early 1980's. Nico is considering majoring in business marketing or kinesiology. The Los Gatos, Calif., native was born on September 27, 1995.
Coach Caragher on Nico: "...Nico comes from great genes here with his dad, John, being a great Spartan in years past. I'm excited about Nico. He's athletic, and has the potential to play on either side of the ball. As a defensive lineman, he gets off on the snap quick and puts pressure on the QB. As on offensive lineman, he plays with very good leverage and finishes his blocks. Bottom line is, Nico's a tough, physical player and plays with a high motor."
