Soon-to-be a second-generation college football player, Eugene is following in his father’s footsteps to San Jose State University. Taylor is projected to be either a defensive end or an outside linebacker. The graduate of San Jose’s Oak Grove High (Coach Jay Braun) was a tight end on offense and defensive end his three varsity seasons. His best season was in 2010 when he was credited with 69 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks. That season he was a first-team all-league and a second-team All-Central Coast Section choice. Eugene has not decided on an academic major, but he would like to become a middle school science teacher. His dad, Woody Taylor, was a defensive back on the highly successful 1974 and 1975 San Jose State football teams. His brother, Kellen Taylor, was a wide receiver for the 2003 University of Oregon team. Taylor is a member of his school’s My Strength Club and the Black Student Union. The San Jose, Calif., native was born on March 21, 1994.

Mike MacIntyre says: “Eugene Taylor is a product out of Oak Grove. He came to our (summer) camp every year, so we really got to see him. We’re very excited about Eugene as an outside linebacker and pass rusher. He brings a lot to the table for us. He’s a really great athlete. He’s another one in a long line of great Oak Grove ball players that we’ve had here at San Jose State.” |
