A versatile player who played six different positions and was his team’s punt and kickoff returner, Addison is joining San Jose State this fall as a linebacker candidate. Gillam played two varsity seasons at Foothill HS in Palo Cedro, Calif., (Coach Bryon Hamilton) and was credited with 139 tackles, 3three interceptions and nine passes defended in varsity competition. On offense, he averaged 7.7 yards a carry and 13.0 yards per catch and scored 16 touchdowns in two seasons. Addison was a first-team all-league choice, his team’s Most Valuable Player and a second team All-North Coast Section pick.
As a junior he received his team’s Most Valuable Player on special teams and was an honorable mention all-league player who had 65 tackles and six pass break-ups. Addison is planning to major in kinesiology. He would like to team with his brother and become an athletics trainer or a physical therapist. Gilliam enjoys snowboarding. The native of Bakersfield, Calif., was born on April 7, 1994.
Mike MacIntyre says: “Addison played tailback and linebacker in high school. He can really run. To me, he reminds me of a Vince Buhagiar (San Jose State linebacker) type of player.” |
