Mobile, Ala.----After playing in the January 19 East-West Shrine All-Star Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., San Jose State University football defensive end Travis Johnson was added to the in roster of players for the 2013 Senior Bowl.

            The 2012 Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and career leader in quarterback sacks among active players with 32.0 joins his teammates, tight end Ryan Otten and offensive tackle David Quessenberry, playing in the all-star game taking place Saturday, January 26, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Game time is 3:00 p.m. (CST) with television coverage provided by the NFL Network.

            Johnson, Quessenberry and Otten should be on the North team roster. Dennis Allen, head coach of the Oakland Raiders, and his staff is directing the North squad. Allen's coaching staff includes former Spartan assistant coaches John DeFilippo and Keith Burns and San Jose State graduate Al Saunders.

            The addition of Johnson to the Senior Bowl player roster gives San Jose State a school, single-game high three participants in the game for the first time. Previously, two Spartans, defensive end Dave Wasick and cornerback Louis Wright, played in the 1974 Senior Bowl.

            Johnson, a 2012 second-team Capital One Academic All-America, is attempting to be the first San Jose State since quarterback Scott Rislov in 2003 to play in two post-season all-star games. Rislov completed his Spartan career playing in the 2003  Blue-Gray Classic and the 2004 East-West Shrine Game.
