Aiming to build on a strong finish to the 2011 season, the San Jose State University football team addressed specific needs and added to its core group of Spartans with 20 newcomers either signing a National Letter-of-Intent or accepting a scholarship offer from the university. Football head coach Mike MacIntyre made the announcement.
“We were looking for big bodies that were athletic – tight ends, linebackers with big bodies and offensive linemen. We needed to get some more offensive linemen. We signed a bunch of defensive linemen the year before. We needed safeties and corners and we needed to find a kicker,” MacIntyre said about the program’s immediate needs.
