RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Freshman Aylin Mejia and senior Elizabeth Raymond both had top-20 finishes helping San Jose State to a third place finish out of 19 teams in the UC Riverside Invitational on September 17. Mejia finished the 5K course in 18:06.3, good for 13th place out of 249 individuals competing. Raymond came in 19th place with a time of 18:16.9. Kate Lambdin (18:32.7) finished in 31st, Megan Arias (18:54.3) came in 44th and Victoria Smith (19:00.9) was 52nd to round out the top five for the Spartans. "We set a nice pace as a team today," said San Jose State's head coach Augie Argabright. " I thought we raced well as a team and finished ahead of a large portion of the field." CSU San Marcos was the invitational winner with a perfect score of 15. Suzanne Cornwell was the top individual; she finished the race in 17:11.0.
