SPARTAN NOTES: Competing in her third season at San Jose State in 2012.
2012: One of six players to appear in every San Jose State match…Academic All-WAC honoree...Started 17 matches and spent 935 minutes on the field…Logged at least 90 minutes in five matches, including three consecutive matches (Aug. 23 – Sept. 2)…Scored one goal at California (Aug. 19)…Produced a career-high 11 shots, four of which were between the pipes. 2011: Named Academic All-WAC...Played in 18 of 19 matches logging 963 minutes and starting 11 games...Scored one goal in the Oct. 21 match against conference opponent New Mexico State...Took two shots on the season, both of which were on goal.
2010: Named Academic All-WAC and a San Jose State Scholar-Athlete...Saw action in 20 matches and made her first collegiate start at San Francisco to open the season...Scored her first collegiate goal in a 2-1 victory at UC Davis...Finished the season collecting four shots, two of which were on net.
MONTA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in soccer (Coach Alan Kute)...Team won 56 games during her four varsity seasons...First-team All-Central Coast Section pick as a senior...Second on the team with 12 goals and led her team with 10 assists in 2010...Two-time first team all-league player...Logged eight goals and 10 assists in 2009.
MORE ON CHERYL: Majoring in child and adolescent development...Interested in becoming an elementary school teacher...Played club soccer for the De Anza Force Blue ‘91...The Santa Clara, Calif., native was born on Feb. 13, 1992.
