Houston, Texas-----Following one of the best seasons by a San Jose State defensive lineman, Jarron Gilbert will continue his college career playing in the East-West Shrine Game, Saturday, January 17, at Robertson Stadium on the University of Houston campus.
Gilbert was the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year. His 22.0 tackles for loss are the most by a Football Bowl Subdivision in the regular season. He finished his four-year San Jose State career with 42.0 tackles for loss – one of the top-10 figures in Western Athletic Conference history.
The Chino, Calif., resident will be the 44th Spartan player to represent San Jose State since the all-star game, dubbed as Football’s Finest Hour, was conceived more than 80 years ago.
The East-West Shrine Game will be televised by ESPN beginning at 1:00 p.m. (PST)/3:00 p.m. (CST).
