San Jose, Calif. ---The San Jose State University women's tennis team won five singles matches for a 5-2 non-conference victory over the University of San Francisco. Klaudia Boczova, Erica Medlin, Chau Truong, Julianna Bacelar and Jessica Willett won in singles for the Spartans (3-1). Truong was the only San Jose State player needing three sets for her win over USF's Marina Nikolic, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 - the 102nd victory of her career. "It was a great team win against a very good USF team. Everyone played really well in singles,"
said San Jose State head coach Sylvain Malroux."The doubles was really close and we had our chances." USF (2-1) opened the contest
winning two of the three doubles matches for the first point. The San Jose
State team of Willett and Bacelar playing #3-doubles topped Brooke Irish and
Nikolic, 8-2, for the one Spartans' win. San Jose State travels south for dual matches against UC Santa Barbara on February 2 and Cal Poly on February 3.
