Las Vegas, Nev.— The San Jose State University women’s tennis team got in the win column for the ninth straight time, Sunday, March 25, defeating Idaho State University, 7-0. The Spartans (10-3) swept three games in three days at the Las Vegas Invitational for the first time since 2010. The Spartans once again grabbed the doubles point lead by the #1-pairing of Sabastiani Leon Chao/Erica Medlin. The tandem beat Katharina Marsela/ Laura Porras, 8-2, for their ninth consecutive win. Jessica Willett/Isadora Busch also had a decisive 8-2 victory over Zamira Vasquez/Rachel Ryan in the #3-spot. For the second day in a row, every singles
player was a straight-set winner. San Jose State won seven out of twelve
dual singles sets while allowing the opponent one win or fewer. Freshman Marquez
had two of those set wins, taking out Rachel Ryan, 6-1, 6-0. The Spartans bring their record-setting run home, Monday, March 26, as they host Eastern Washington. The match will be San Jose State’s fourth in four days. The contest is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
