Bakersfield, Calif.— The San Jose State women’s tennis team beat Cal State Bakersfield, 6-1, in the Spartans' dual match opener on January 24. In Sylvain Malroux's San Jose State (1-0) coaching debut, the Spartans won all three doubles and five of six singles matches. Sabastiani Leon Chao won in the number-one singles spot with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Estefania Limpias. The win gives San Jose State its fifth in a row against Cal State Bakersfield dating back to the 2007-08 season. Next, San Jose State hosts Santa Clara, at the Spartan Tennis Complex, Friday, January 27, at 2:00 p.m.
