SPARTAN NOTES: Completed his first season with the Spartans.

2012: Played in 32 games, 11 games as a shortstop (eight starts) and 21 appearances as a relief pitcher...Named to the Preseason All-WAC team as a utility player...Led the team with six wins...Third on the staff with two saves...Got his first career hit as a Spartan on Feb. 24 against UC Santa Barbara...Went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in the Spartans' 13-12 win over Santa Clara (March 3)...Did not allow a run or a hit in his first three career relief appearances as a Spartan (3 1/3 innings, three strikeouts)...Had four separate streaks of three straight scoreless appearances, including a stretch from March 10-23 where he threw 7 1/3 shutout innings with four hits, no walks and seven strikeouts...Season-long outing of 3 1/3 innings came at Fresno State on April 15 where he gave up one run and struck out two in the Spartans' 11-2 win.

MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE: Played for Coach Daniel Phillups at Monterey Peninsula College…Was a first-team all-conference, first team all-NorCal and first team All-American player in 2011…Posted a 1.33 ERA in 14 appearances (20 1/3 IP) with a 2-to-1 strikeouts-to-walk ratio in that 2011 season…Had seven saves in 2011 as the team’s closer…Also hit .284 while starting every game…Drove in 23 runs and slugged .411.

UC DAVIS: Redshirted his freshman season with the Aggies in 2009.

SALINAS HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Salinas High School...Was a three-time first team all-league and two-time all-county honoree…Named to the Central Coast Section first team and first team all-state his junior season… Hit .350 with 5 homers, 27 RBIs and 12 bags in 2007... Led Cowboys to back-to-back 20-win seasons and quarterfinal berth at 2008 CCS tournament.

MIKE: Majoring in sociology with a minor in psychology...Enjoys playing golf…A native of Carmel, Calif., Michael Christopher Aldrete was born September 30, 1989.
