San Jose, Calif. - Due to expected rains in the Bay Area late on Friday, March 12, San Jose State University baseball head coach Sam Piraro has announced a change in start time for his team's Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament game against the United States Air Force Academy, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. The contest is still scheduled to be played at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The inaugural Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament gets under way later this evening with a pair of games at separate venues. The event's co-host with San Jose State, Santa Clara, hosts Southern Illinois at Stephen Schott Stadium following a brief on-field opening ceremony featuring Piraro, Bronco head coach Mark O'Brien and members of the Gifford family. UC Davis takes on Air Force in a neutral-site contest at Municipal Stadium. First pitch for both games is slated for 6:00 p.m. The Spartans are an even 5-5 following an 18-6 victory over Southern Illinois on Wednesday night, March 10. Air Force, a member of the Mountain West Conference, enters play this evening at 3-9. The teams have not met in baseball since 1997. Due to the time change, there will be no audio coverage of the game. Live stats are available by clicking here. Fans not able to attend can also keep track of all of the action via the Spartans' official Twitter page at twitter.com/sjsuathletics. All-session passes, allowing admittance to any of the 10 games this weekend at either Schott Stadium or Muni, are just $20, with single-day general admission costing of $6.
