Kahuku, Hawaii-Cristina Corpus shot her second consecutive under-par round at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational Tuesday afternoon on the George Fazio Course. San Jose State finished the day in fifth place in the team standings. Corpus shot a one-under 71 in her second round and has a 139 two-round total, good for fourth place. She started the round strongly with birdies on the par 4 first hole and par 5 fourth hole. After a bogey on eight, Corpus then played the next 10 holes at even par. She is just two shots behind individual leader Demi Runas of UC Davis who shot a 69 in her second round for a 137 two-day total. Katrina Delen-Briones and Shraddhanjali Singh each recorded a two-over 74 Tuesday. Delen-Briones made her only birdie of the day on the par 3 eighth hole and is tied for 11th individually. Singh had made 16 pars and just two bogeys on her round and is 22nd. Madeleine Ziegert shot a 78 for her round with a birdie on the par 4 ninth hole, while Jody Ho rounded out the Spartan scoring with a 79 including her only birdie on the par 4 14th. San Jose State enters the final round in fifth place with a two-round total of 585. They are just four shots behind UCLA and Southern California who are tied for third at 581. The Spartans are also six shots ahead of Long Beach State at 591. Final round action begins at 7:30 a.m. HST Wednesday on the Arnold Palmer Course. The Spartans will play with Long Beach State and Southern California on Wednesday as the team begins teeing off at 8:05 a.m. HST/10:05 a.m. PST.
