San Jose-Kylie Miraldi led the Spartans in kills for the
second consecutive match, but the third-ranked Hawaii volleyball team hit .458
for the match and the win, 25-12, 25-15, 25-15, Monday night at Spartan Gym.
Miraldi hit above .400 for the second straight match at
.444. She was the only Spartans in
double-figure kills with 10 on 18 attempts and only two hitting errors. Miraldi also added a service ace in the
match.
Taylor Japhet and Sarah McAtee each had four kills, while
Japhet added four digs. Caitlin Andrade had 15 assists, while Asia Casino and Kristal Tsukano each had six digs
and three assists. Katie Turner
added six digs, while Alex Akana added two kills.. Kaci Miller and Krista Miller each had one kill.
San Jose State hit .074 for the match, while Hawaii
committed just seven hitting errors with 45 kills. Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honoree
Kanani Danielson led all hitters with 15 kills, followed by San Jose native
Amber Kaufman with 11.
The Spartans continues at home this week with matches
against Utah State on Thursday and Nevada on Saturday. Both begin at 7 p.m., inside Spartan
Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets.
