Kahuku, Hawaii-For just the second time in her Spartan
career, Cristina Corpus carded a round in the 60s as she shot a major college
best 68 in the first round of the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational Monday
afternoon on the George Fazio Course.
San Jose State ended the day with an even par 288 to place second in the
team standings.
Corpus is currently tied for second individually with Demi
Runas from UC Davis and one shot behind UC Davis' Alice Kim who shot a
five-under 67. Corpus made four
birdies and her first collegiate eagle on the par-five, fourth hole.
The Spartans placed two individuals in the top-10 with
Corpus second and Katrina Delen-Briones tied for sixth place. Delen-Briones finished the round with a
one-under 71. She also made three
birdies on her round.
Shraddhanjali Singh finished her round with a two-over 74
that included two birdies.
Madeleine Ziegert shot a 75 with two birdies, while Jody Ho finished
with a 76 and two birdies.
San Jose State is seven shots behind first-place UC Davis
who shot a 281. Seven teams are
within 10 shots of the Spartans including California at 290 and Southern
California at 291.
The Spartans
