San Jose State record: 1-6, 0-3 WAC. The Spartans lost at #6/#5-Boise State (45-7) on October 31.
 
Nevada record: 5-3, 4-0 WAC. The Wolf Pack have won five in a row after defeating Hawai’i (31-21) on October 31. The winning streak is Nevada’s longest since a five-game winning streak in 2006.

Play-by-Play Television Coverage: ESPN will televise the San Jose State-Nevada game. Terry Gannon and David Norrie is the experienced broadcast pair.

Play-by-Play Radio Coverage: KLIV (1590 AM, San Jose) originates San Jose State University football broadcasts. Mike Chisholm calls the play-by-play. Kevin Richardson offers commentary. The pregame show for the Nevada game begins at 5:00 p.m. (PST). KION (1460 AM, Salinas) is a network affiliate. Broadcasts also are available at www.sjsuspartans.com.

Dick Tomey Radio Show:  The weekly one-hour Dick Tomey Radio Show airs live on KLIV (1590 AM, San Jose), Wednesdays, at 8:00 p.m. The 60-minute show originates from Original Joe’s restaurant in downtown San Jose. Next broadcast is Wednesday, November 4.

Dick Tomey TV Show:
  Now in its fifth year, the weekly Dick Tomey  Show airs six times weekly on the Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104 for most Northern California Comcast cable subscribers). Air times are every Wednesday through Friday at 1:00 and 9:30 p.m.

San Jose State-Nevada series: Nevada leads the series, 13-8-2. The home team has won the last three meetings between these teams. The Wolf Pack defeated the Spartans, 41-17, in Reno last year for their sixth win in the last seven against San Jose State. The Spartans’ last victory in the series was a 27-24 triumph in 2007.

Three BCS computer polls detail strength of schedule: Three of the six computer ranking providers for the Bowl Championship Series standings list San Jose State’s current strength of schedule among the top-25. Sagarin (#4 behind Washington, UCLA and Georgia) is the highest. The Colley Matrix (#5) and Anderson & Hester (#25) also have San Jose State’s current strength of schedule highly ranked in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Spartans’ first six Football Bowl Subdivision opponents have a combined record of 38-11 in games played through October 31.

Forcing fumbles: Currently, San Jose State has forced a conference best 11 fumbles and has two players who share the national lead. Defensive backs Tanner Burns and Devin Newsome are two of the three players tied for first with four in seven games.

Recovering fumbles: San Jose State’s defense has recovered at least one fumble in each of its first seven games and has a streak of eight dating back to the 2008 season.

Freshmen enter starting lineup: The Boise State game marked the debut of two first-time freshmen in the starting lineup for San Jose State. Defensive end Travis Johnson and cornerback Ronnie Yell were starters for the Spartans. Yell was credited with four tackles and one pass break-up. Johnson was not in on any tackles.
     In 2009, four first-time freshmen (Johnson, Yell and defensive backs Chris Hill and James Orth) and five redshirt freshmen (starting tight end Ryan Otten, special teams player Charles Scicli, reserve defensive ends Keenan Brown and Tracy Pugh and reserve wide receiver Jordan Johnson) have seen action. In comparison, the last four seasons, San Jose State played 64 players with freshman eligibility status.

Only FBS team with 100 percent red-zone scoring:
For the second week in a row, San Jose State remains the only Football Bowl Subdivision team to score every time it moves the ball inside the opponent’s 20-yard line this season. The Spartans are 14-for-14 after scoring on its only ‘red zone’ opportunity against Boise State.
     Heading into games the week of November 8, San Jose State is the top WAC team to score touchdowns once in the ‘red zone.’ The Spartans have an 85.7 percent rate of scoring a touchdown once inside the ‘red zone’ this season.
