San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State University baseball program is accepting applications for its 2009 Spartan Winter Showcase Camp, to be held at Blethen Field, Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13. The San Jose State Baseball Winter Showcase Camp will be directed and supervised by San Jose State head coach Sam Piraro, the 2008 and 2009 Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Key instructors will include Spartan associate head coach Tom Kunis and assistant coaches Jeff Pritchard and Brian Yocke. The camp, open to grades 9-and-up, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a report time of 8:30 a.m. on each day. It provides an opportunity for the college-bound student-athlete to receive individual instruction and a comprehensive player evaluation from the perspective of a top-notch NCAA Division I program, and gives participants a chance to meet the Spartan coaching staff and see the San Jose State University campus, home of the 2009 WAC champions. Blethen Field is located across from Kelley Park and Municipal Stadium, with parking off of South 10th Street. For those interested parties who received a letter stating that the Spartan Winter Showcase would run from December 5-6, those dates are incorrect. The coaching staff the discrepancy, and any inconvenience caused. The correct dates are Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13.
