Gresham, Ore.----- Swimmer Alysha Bush of Newberg (Ore.) High, who signed a National Letter-of-Intent with San Jose State University in November 2012, won two individual state championships and was one-fourth of a first-place relay team at the 2013 Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) 6A Swimming Championships held February 16 & 17.

            A sprint freestyle specialist, Bush won the 50 and 100 freestyles and swam the opening leg of the Tigers' 200 freestyle relay team. Her winning times of 23.28 in the 50 and 50.47 in the 100 are new school records and meet the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) standard for high school All-America honors.

            Bush's leadoff swim in the 200 free relay helped Newberg High to a 1:38.03 time - a clocking that could earn her a third All-America award at the end of the 2013 season.

            Besides three first-place finishes in the 11-event state championship meet, Bush also swam the breaststroke portion of Newberg's 200 medley relay team that finished sixth in the championship final.

            Bush's performances were instrumental in Newberg High placing fourth in the team standings at the 2013 state meet.

            During her high school swimming career, Bush was a four-time state champion and All-America winning the 100 free in 2012 (50.82) and 2013. As a sophomore she was second in the 100 free at the state championship.

            A multi-sport All-America, Bush was a two-time NISCA All-America in girls water polo. She also competed for Newberg High in tennis and track and field.
