SPARTANS FACE SACRAMENTO STATE FOR SECOND-CONSECUTIVE MEET: San Jose State hosts Sacramento State in a non-conference meet at The Event Center for a 7:00 p.m. start on January 25. The Hornets hosted the Spartans in a tri-meet with Arizona State on Friday, January 18.

SAN JOSE STATE: Cassandra Harrison placed second in one event and third in another at San Jose State's first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) meet of 2013 at Sacramento State versus the Hornets and the Arizona State Sun Devils on January 18. San Jose State finished the meet in third with a 192.525 and now has a dual-meet record of 2-6.

HEAD COACH: San Jose State head coach Wayne Wright is in his 12th season at the helm of the Spartan women's gymnastics team. He has coached all six San Jose State regional qualifying teams and taken three individual competitors to the NCAA Championships.

HARRISON HAS CAREER NIGHT: Against Sacramento State and Arizona State, Cassandra Harrison placed second on vault with a score of 9.825, matching a career-high, and finished the meet third on floor with a career-high 9.800. She also led the Spartans on bars with a 2013-best 9.725.

BARS TEAM DISPLAYS QUALITY PERFORMANCE: The Spartans kicked off the Sacramento State WAC meet with a strong showing on bars. Each member of the bars team scored a 9.525 or higher, with three matching or posting season-highs. Cassandra Harrison led San Jose State with a 2013-best 9.725.

GREER WINS FLOOR TITLE: Julia Greer opened her season with a floor title at the NorCal Quad with a score of 9.825.

RECORD NIGHT FOR GUYER: Cami Guyer finished her first-career all-around at the NorCal Quad with a second-place finish. She notched career-highs in the vault (9.800) and bars (9.600) and, in her first try since joining the Spartans, finished with a 9.575 on floor for a total all-around score of 38.600. 

GHER BEGINS SAN JOSE STATE CAREER: Junior transfer Bekah Gher showed Spartan fans why she had such success at Boise State, finishing with a team-high 9.775 score on beam and bars (9.650).

SACRAMENTO STATE HORNETS: The Hornets placed second in its first conference meet of the season against the Spartans on January 18. WAC Gymnast of the Week for the second-consecutive week, Kalliah McCartney won the all-around for the third time in as many meets this season in that meet.

In his 31^st season, the Wildcats are coached by Kim Hughes.

TICKETS: Tickets are now on sale for all home meets this season at The Event Center box office. Seating is General Admission at The Event Center, located on the corner of San Carlos and Seventh Streets. Prices are $5 for Adults, $3 for Youth 12-and-under, and free for San Jose State students with a valid Tower ID. Groups of 20 or more can pay the Youth price of $3 if tickets are ordered by the last business day prior to the meet.

Tickets are available at the door. All doors to the facility open 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to every home meet. The Event Center is located on the corner of Seventh and San Carlos Streets on the San Jose State campus. Fans can park on campus in the Fourth Street Garage. A parking permit can be purchased in the garage for $5.00 after 5:00 p.m.

SPARTAN GYMNAST NOTES:

Amy Bellingham earned a 9.475 score on vault in her first meet as a collegiate at the NorCal Quad.

Kiley Field competes on beam and floor for San Jose State. She recorded a 9.625 on beam in her first meet of the season at the NorCal Quad and earned a 9.575 in her first collegiate floor outing.

Bekah Gher competes on vault, bars and beam for the Spartans. She earned season-highs on vault (9.725) and bars (9.650) at Sacramento State, and her 2013-best on beam (9.800) came at the Arizona Quad.

Hannah Gilbert competes on vault for the Spartans. Her best score of the year (9.725) came in her inaugural meet as a collegiate, at the NorCal Quad.

Julia Greer performs on vault, beam, and floor for San Jose State. She won the floor title at the NorCal Quad with a score of 9.825, her best of 2013. She also had season-highs at the NorCal Quad on vault (9.725) and beam (9.750).

Cami Guyer is the lone Spartan to compete in the all-around this season. At the NorCal Quad, she finished her first-career all-around with a second-place finish, where she scored season-highs on vault (9.800) and beam (9.625). She saw a .675 improvement to her all-around score at the Arizona Quad, where she earned a 2013-best score on bars (9.800). At Sacramento State, she earned a season-best 9.675 on floor.

Cassandra Harrison has competed on vault, bars, and floor this season. She earned a season-high 9.725 on bars and career-highs 9.800 on floor and 9.825 on vault at Sacramento State.

Jasmine Holmes competes on vault and floor for the Spartans. She made her collegiate debut at the NorCal Quad with a 9.775 score on vault, the second-best score on the Spartans. Her 9.675 at the Arizona Quad on vault was also a second-best on her team, and she earned a 9.475 in her first-collegiate floor showing.

Alyssa Kaschak performs on bars for the Spartans. She recorded a 9.625 on bars, a season-best, at Sacramento State.

Victoria Lark competes on floor for San Jose State, recording a career-best 9.525 at Sacramento State.

Tauny Shearer is a beam performer for the Spartans. She earned a 9.750 on beam at the NorCal Quad.

Alyssa Telles-Nolan competes on bars and floor for the Spartans. Her 2013 best on bars came at the Arizona Quad, when she recorded a 9.775, and she recorded a season-best 9.625 on floor at the NorCal Quad.

Marissa Unpingco performs on bars and beam for San Jose State. She scored a career- and team-high 9.800 on bars at the Arizona Quad, and earned a career-best 9.725 on beam at Sacramento State.

UP NEXT: The Spartans head to Denver on February 2 at 5:00 p.m. PST for its second WAC meet of the season. San Jose State will also compete against Air Force and North Carolina State.
