Stanford, Calif.-Kathleen Rojas shot a one-under 70 and helped the San Jose State women's golf to its best round of the tournament at 290 as the Spartans finished 13th at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice on the Stanford Golf Course. Rojas shot her best round of the season with the 70. She made five birdies on her round including two of the last three holes she played. Rojas finished the tournament tied with teammate Regina De Guzman at 222. De Guzman shot a 74 and made one birdie in her final round. Megan Osland shot her best round of the three days with a 72 Sunday and finished 62nd at 227. Cha Cha Willhoite ended the tournament in 64th place at 228. Rachelle Reali shot a 74 on Sunday and finished 69th at 230. The Spartans shot its best round of the tournament on Sunday to finish at 891, and in 13th-place in a tournament that featured 15 teams ranked in the top-50.
"I thought we competed with a high sense of energy and emotion today," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "It was great to see Kathleen play with confidence today. Everyone in the lineup gave us a good round the final two days. Hopefully, our young team learned that they need to be at their best for every round when we face great competition. We have much to work on in preparation for our championship season in the spring." San Jose State concludes the fall season with this tournament. The team recorded two top-10 finishes in the four tournaments - 4th at the Colonel Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic and 7th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. The Spartans return to action in the spring at the Peg Barnard Intercollegiate on the Stanford Golf Course, February 16-17.
