The San Jose State University men's cross country team came in ninth place out of 17 teams at the Bronco Invitational on October 13 in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Spartans finished with a team score of 226 and were led by Matthew Stephens for the second race in a row. Stephens finished the 8,000-meter course in 26:10.8, a season-best, and came in 28th place. Mueen Ghoury followed in 41st place with a season-best time as well of 26:25.8. Nicholas Sherrell put down his personal best for the second consecutive week crossing the line in 89th place with a time of 27:27.2. Alexander Selevos in 106th place (27:57.4) and Garrick Chan in 120th place (28:31.4) rounded out the scorers for San Jose State. Chan's time was also a season low for him. "I am proud of every single one of the athletes today," said San Jose State head coach Ron Davis. "This is hard work at practice showing off. Our times are just getting better as the season goes on." The Cal Poly Distance Club took first place in the team scoring with a total of 78. Unattached runnner Mike Helms was the individual winner with a time of 25:14.2.
