|Men's Cross Country Fifth At Crystal Springs|
Belmont, Calif. -- The San Jose State men's cross country team finished in fifth place out of seven teams at the Crystal Springs Invitational in Belmont, Calif., on October 6.
The Spartans finished with a team score of 131. Matthew Stevens was first on the team to cross the finish line on the 8,000-meter course in 27:23. Mueen Ghoury followed closely in 17th place with a time of 27:40.
"I'm proud of the way the team ran," said San Jose State head coach Ron Davis. "We had a couple of personal bests out there today and that's what we're looking for."
Los Angeles Trade-Technical College finished on top of the team leader board with a final score of 22. They had three runners finish inside the top-five. Unattached runner Joshua McDonald was the individual winner with a time of 25:38.
"This was a good one for the team to build on with the conference championship coming up in a couple of weeks," Davis said.
San Jose State's next race is Saturday, October 13 at the Santa Clara Bronco Open at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.
