David Andoh, a versatile, much sought-after 6-foot-7 forward from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., signed a National Letter-of-Intent to enroll at San Jose State University this fall and become a member of the men's basketball team. George Nessman, the Spartans' head coach, made the announcement.

            Andoh was rated as a three-star player both by rivals.com and scout.com and the #123 best national prospect in the Class of 2012 by Northstar Basketball.  Rated #12 among available 2012 spring high school hopefuls by ESPNU and #17 by Northstar, reportedly, Andoh received scholarship offers from Colorado, Denver, Fresno State, Penn, Santa Clara, UTEP and UC Irvine.

            "David Andoh will be a significant asset for Spartan Basketball. We have known David for some time, like him a great deal, and he is an excellent fit for our program," says Nessman about the promising forward prospect. "David is a highly talented player, a plus athlete, can score and is a fantastic rebounder. He projects into an impact player for our program. We couldn't be happier that David is now a Spartan."

            The Bay Area product played his junior season at Saint Mary's High in Berkeley, Calif., where he averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists a game. NorCal Preps rated him the #5-overall college prospect in Northern California and ESPN.com had him listed among the top-75 hopefuls in the entire state heading into his senior year.

            Andoh is the fifth player to sign a Letter-of-Intent with San Jose State this spring. Earlier 7-foot-1 center Mike VanKirk from Paraclete High in Lancaster, Calif., 6-foot-11 center Alex Brown and 6-foot-4 guard Xavier Jones from John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill., and 6-foot-6 forward Louis Garrett from Salt Lake (Utah) Community College signed with San Jose State. And, 6-foot-9 junior-to-be Chris Cunningham, who played his first two seasons at Santa Clara University, will join the team for the 2012-13 season.
