San Jose State begins its quest for a Western Athletic Conference football championship Friday, August 3, when preseason practice begins.
Head coach Mike MacIntyre has 13 returning starters from last year's squad that finished the season defeating Navy and Fresno State. First-team All-WAC players Ryan Otten, a tight end who had 52 receptions, and defensive end Travis Johnson, credited with 15.5 tackles for loss top the list of returning starters. The Spartans have an August 18 scrimmage in Spartan Stadium at 1:00 p.m. There is no charge to watch the scrimmage. Practice times are subject to change.
