2012: Pitched in 13 games with eight starts...Started the year with a 0.87 ERA through four appearances (10 1/3 innings)...Struck out a season-high eight batters against Utah on March 10 in his longest outing of the year, a six-inning appearance during a 3-2 Spartans win...Allowed just two runs on six scattered hits in five innings of work on April 14 at Fresno State, winning the second game of a doubleheader to complete a twin-bill sweep for the Spartans...Season debut came on two innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts in the Spartans' 7-3 win at San Francisco on Feb. 19...Held opponents to a .170 average with two outs, second-best on the team.

2011: A second-team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree...Compiled a 5-4 record with a 3.33 ERA...Had a better than 3:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (74:22)...Set career highs in innings (75.2), wins (5), strikeouts (74)...Best performance was a 4-3 win over No. 9 Fresno State in which he struck out a career-high 13 batters and earned WAC Player of the Week honors...Went nine straight outings without a loss (March 10-April 22)...Among nine starts had three complete games - vs. Louisiana Tech (April 22), at Sacramento State (April 30) and vs. Hawai'i (May 26)...Struck out 10 vs. Louisiana Tech (April 22).

2010: Earned six starts in 19 total appearances...Posted a 2-4 record with an 8.47 ERA in 39.1 innings...Allowed 57 hits, 37 runs and 17 walks while striking out 28...Longest outing was as seven innings ina  7-4 victory against UC Davis (March 14)...Twice recorded five strikeouts in a game, at Saint Mary's (Feb. 19) and against Southern Illinois (March 10)...The five Ks against Southern Illinios came in 2.0 innings of work...Tied for second on the team in batters struckout looking (13) and third in appearances (19)...Placed in the top-five of five other statistical categories.

2009: Made two starts in six appearances...Posted a 1-1 record with a 5.11 ERA, 12 strikeouts and six walks in 12.1 innings...Debut was a start against Chicago State (March 18) went five innings in earning his first win...It was his longest outing of the season...struck out a season-high six in the game...First relief appearance came against Cal State Bakersfield (March 28)...Did not allow a run in three of his six outings.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Angelo Rodriguez High School in Fairfield, Calif....Played baseball all four years (Coach Jason Chatham), earning three varsity letters...A first-team All-Solano County Athletic Conference (SCAC) honoree his final two years...As a senior, posted a 6-3 record, one save and a 3.38 ERA in league action, earning SCAC Most Valuable Player honors...Made 12 starts in 16 total appearances, and struck out 71 batters while walking 31 in 66.1 innings...Tossed four consecutive complete games, three of which were shutouts...Struck out a season-high nine batters in a victory over De La Salle...Went at least 5.0 innings in 11 of his 16 appearances...Set school record nine wins in his junior season...A two-year varsity letterwinner and one-time all-league pick in water polo.

ESTEBAN: Majored in communications...Plans to pursue a careeer in professional baseball...Enjoys playing the guitar, snowboarding and fishing...Played his 2011 summer baseball for the Edenton Steamers (N.C.)...A native of San Francisco, Calif., Esteban Guzman was born February 15, 1990.
