SPARTAN NOTES: In his first year as a Spartan...named the 2012 Coach's Award winner.

2012: One of three players to start in all 18 matches...led all newcomers with 19 shot attempts...picked up his first collegiate point, an assist, against Houston Baptist (10/28)...first goal came against Seattle U (11/3)- it was also the game winner...played 1,528 minutes, second most on the team.

HARTNELL COLLEGE: Played the 2011 season under Coach Daniel Ortega... tallied two goals and nine assists for a team that went 16-2-3 overall...won the Coast Conference Championship and reached the state final...ended the year the No. 3 ranked team in the nation, No. 2 in the state and were the top ranked side in Northern California.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2011 graduate of Alisal High School (Coach Mark Cisneros) in Salinas, Calif....a four-year letter winner and member of three Tri-County League championship sides (2007-09) as well as the 2010 Central Coast Conference Champs...earned second-team All Tri-County honors in 2008 and was the team's MVP in 2009...at Alisal, his teams were a combined 57-16-16 overall and 39-3-5 in league play.

ENRIQUE: Majoring in communications with a minor in health science...played his club ball for the US Soccer Development Academy's Santa Cruz Breakers...enjoys playing the guitar and body surfing in his spare time...the son of Aida and Jose Alfredo Montano...a native of Salinas, Calif., Enrique Montano was born May 25, 1993.
