SPARTAN NOTES: Completed his first season with the Spartans.
2012: Played in nine games with five starts at designated hitter...Spartans debut came as a defensive replacement behind the dish on March 12 versus Columbia...Hit an RBI single on the first pitch he saw versus Brown on March 28 in his first career plate appearance. He would later double and finish the game 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored...Went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in his first career start at Pacific (April 6)...Had a pinch-hit RBI single and later scored a run during the Spartans' six-run ninth-inning rally versus UC Davis (May 15)...Batted .444 with runners on base and was a perfect 3-for-3 with a runner on third and less than two outs.
ST. FRANCIS HIGH SCHOOL: A 2011 graduate of St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif....Lettered in baseball for Coach Mike Oakland…Was first team all-league in 2011…Also named a Mercury News Honorable Mention…Hit .469 his junior year.
JON: Has not chosen a major...Interested in business and sports medicine…Enjoys golfing...A native of Santa Barbara, Calif., Jonathan Richard Nelson was born December 5, 1992.
