San Jose State-William Jessup series: This is the first meeting between these teams.

First Non-Division I opponent since 2003:
San Jose State’s game with William Jessup for third place in the Shamrock Office Solutions Classic marks the first time since the December 22, 2003 game against BYU-Hawaii for the Surf ‘N Slam Tournament championship that the Spartans face an opponent that does not have NCAA Division I affiliation. William Jessup, located in Rocklin, Calif., competes as a NAIA Division II institution.

First team better than 50 percent vs. Saint Mary’s:
San Jose State became the first team this season to make more than 50 percent of its field goal tries in a game against Saint Mary’s. The Spartans shot 51.6 percent from the field in an 87-78 loss to the Gaels in the opening round of the Shamrock Office Solutions Classic. Dating back to last season, Saint Mary’s kept 23 consecutive opponents from making at least 50 percent of its shots in a game.

Shooting eyes currently in focus: In San Jose State’s last four games, the Spartans are shooting 53.2 percent (115-of-216) from the field. In the team’s first five games when San Jose State compiled a 2-3 record, the Spartans made just 40.7 percent of their field goal attempts.

Distributing the ball:
In the last four games, San Jose State was credited with 66 assists or 16.5 per game. In the first five contests, the Spartans average 10.6 assists a game.

Topping the WAC in field goal defense:
San Jose State's opponents have combined to shoot 40.1 percent from the field – the best figure in the WAC for games played through December 28.
